Styling a band is a bit more complicated than it seems. Slap a dress on the girl, slap some pants and some deconstructed t-shirts on the guys and you’re good to go, right?
Let’s try 40+ hours of research, scouting boutiques, attending band practice to get a feel for the upcoming show, never mind taking into account individual tastes and clothing preference mixed with my own glorious ideas only to tear it down and bring something coherent and exciting to the table. Each member of the band has personal shopping sessions that include fittings, funny reactions to some of the pics, lots of vogue poses in the mirror and may or may not include a margarita to top off the marathon shopping day.
Supporting local biz is huge in my everyday existence. For the Soldier Thread Stubb’s Show, I scouted over 15 local business’ and ended up purchasing from six. Six totally local, small boutique owners that need our support. And that’s not counting the photographers, videographers, hairdressers, make up artists and Stubb’s employees that have to come together to pull this event off. This is the lifeblood of Austin. I am an ambassador for my city.
I have a few photos from the Stubb’s performance from the talented (and newbie local to Austin) Adam Kealing, band photographer. Enjoy their latest Promo video, In Spades.
Last photo is not Mr. Kealings.
